The project is an office for a developer in Hyderabad. It sits outside a larger 7-acre construction site for an upcoming apartment complex. The client’s requirement was to have an open office with ample space for parking.

Though the project was supposed to be a temporary built form, it fulfilled requirements so well that the clients decided to use it as their base office instead of its intended function as a site office. The project site was surrounded by unwanted construction noise and the movement of heavy vehicles throughout the day.

Two sides of the site were high-traffic roads, while the other two sides overlooked debris from the under-construction project. The ground floor accommodates workstations, reception, conference, and discussion rooms.

The first floor is largely kept open, with a few cabins and a courtyard. Openings from both outdoor and the inner courtyard keep the interior spaces well-ventilated, limiting air conditioning requirements to only summers.

The use of transparent glass partitions inside makes the office visually unassuming and open, letting in light and views from the lush green courtyard outside.

The play of light and shadow creates a dynamic effect in the internal spaces.

The roof extends out to the compound wall to make the spaces more usable by restricting some of the light.
Natural wood and Corten steel add richness and character to the roof.

The design artfully maintains a visual connection to nature throughout the space. The roof is cut out to accommodate an existing tree.

The interior space spills out into the outdoor deck with plants and landscaping, which is designed to take over the built form at one point.
The boundary wall is clad in limestone.

The same materials are used indoors and outdoors to unify the spaces.
Black limestone is one such material.
